The Problem

For commercial fishing professionals, every moment on the water counts. Determining the right time to retrieve a towed fishing net is difficult, as it’s often unclear when the net is full. Pulling the net too soon or too late can lead to reduced catches or wasted effort. A sensor designed to alert fishermen when the net is full would streamline this process and maximize the catch.

Our Solution

We designed, developed, and tested a device that senses when a towed fishing net has reached full capacity. The device then alerts the fishing boat’s wheelhouse via ultrasonic communication. Utilizing industry-standard frequencies and pulse rates, we designed, coded, and manufactured both the underwater multichannel ultrasonic transmitter (in the net) and the multichannel ultrasonic receiver (in the wheelhouse). The final product resulted in optimized operations for fishing pros who use this device.

Founder of Ocean Systems Inc.

Ocean Systems has required electronic design, engineering, prototype building, and production services for our electronic circuits many times over the last 15 years. Above Average Outcomes has come through every time. Even when difficult design issues were involved, AAO was able to come to the rescue at reasonable rates. I would recommend AAO to anyone requiring digital or analog design or production assistance.
