The Problem

In veterinary medicine, light anesthesia is often used for minor procedures, such as teeth cleanings or nail trims on anxious pets. But light anesthesia machines typically do not have the built-in breathing monitor that surgical anesthesia machines include. This leaves veterinary technicians responsible for monitoring an animal’s breathing while also performing the procedure. In an effort to find a safer solution, Bean Products worked with us to develop a new product for veterinary professionals.

Our Solution

We enhanced the embedded code for a simple yet effective breathing monitor that inserts into the tracheal tube to monitor the breathing of patients under light anesthesia. We continue to produce several thousand units annually, delivering a trusted device that alerts technicians if a patient’s breathing becomes too infrequent. This allows veterinary professionals to focus on the procedure without worry.
